St. John's Wood Society Book Club

Thanks to everyone who came to our inaugural meeting and contributed to the discussion. I hope you all enjoyed it and will come back for more.

It was interesting how our views were so different to the overwhelming weight of opinion of the reviewers.  The prevailing view was that journalists liked their industry being centre stage. We (with a couple of exceptions) did not like it as much but found some good points to admire as well.

Our next meeting will be on 29th May beginning at 7.15 pm.  Please put the date in your diary now. We will meet at the same place, the St. Marylebone Almshouses at 80, St John's Wood Terrace (near the junction with Woronzow Road). Go to the central door.

Next meeting we will discuss "How to be Good" by Nick Hornby which is available from Amazon for the enormous price of 1p + postage!  Arnie Witkin has kindly agreed to introduce the book and lead the discussion.

If you can recruit a new member please do.  Just ask them to let me know they are coming to make sure we have enough chairs to go round.

This is a new venture for the Society and all members are encouraged to join. There is no fee - all you have to do is let the organiser, Stephen Levinson know you want to come along by contacting him on stephen@slevinson.com or calling on 0207 286 7331, and, of course, read the book!
